YCUSD Efforts in Regards to Ensuring Test Security
Yuba City Unified School District (YCUSD) will take every measure to maintain security and protect the integrity of the Statewide Assessment System, as directed by the California Department of Education. The 2012 testing cycle had hundreds of security breaches across the state, including a few in YCUSD, through student use of cell phones and other electronic devices.
To this end, YCUSD students’ electronic devices (cell phones, MP3 players, tablets, etc.) will be collected by the test examiner or proctor and stored in a clear tote at the front of the classroom during statewide assessments (STAR, CAHSEE, CELDT).
Devices will be placed in a baggie with the student’s name on it and kept within the classroom where testing occurs. Once testing is completed for that session, students will sign indicating that their device was returned to them. Students may wish to leave their electronic devices at home during the test administration days at their school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance in making 2013 a successful testing administration.
